IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID! THAT'S THE MESSAGE BILL CLINTON WON THE PRESIDENCY WITH BACK IN 1992, AND IT'S A MESSAGE THAT IS EVEN MORE RESONANT TODAY. IT'S CLEAR THAT THE ECONOMY IS GOING TO BE TOP OF THE TICKET IN 2020, WITH VOTERS LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION TO THE ECONOMIC TURMOIL UNLEASHED BY THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. MATT KLINK: Campaign Strategist, Klink Campaigns "WHAT THE ELECTION WILL TURN ON IS: 'WHO HAS THE BEST RECOVERY PLAN. THAT WILL CHANGE HOW DONALD TRUMP AND JOE BIDEN CONDUCT THEIR CAMPAIGNS- ALBEIT, REMOTELY. THE PRESIDENT HAD BASED HIS REELECTION MESSAGE AROUND A STRONG ECONOMY NOW WITH AT LEAST 14% UNEMPLOYMENT THAT MESSAGE NO LONGER HOLDS WEIGHT. DESPITE SUPPORTING MULTIPLE RELIEF PACKAGES- THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION HAS YET TO LAYOUT A DETAILED ECONOMIC PLAN. BUT THAT DOESN'T LEAVE JOE BIDEN OFF THE HOOK EITHER- MATT KLINK 'AS AMERICA BEGINS TO GET BACK TO WORK, BOTH PARTIES WILL BEGIN TO PUSH MORE IDEOLOGICAL AGENDAS ABOUT HOW THEY THINK THEY CAN GET THE COUNTRY BACK TO WORK MOST EFFECTIVELY. (10 SECONDS) SOT Dr. Jody Armour , USC "THIS CORONAVIRUS CRISIS IS EXPOSING A LOT OF INEQUALITIES IN AMERICA AND MAKING THEM UNAVOIDABLE ANYMORE BIDEN WILL HAVE HIS WORK CUT OUT TO WIN BACK THOSE WHO LEFT THE DEMOCRATIC BASE IN 2016. WHAT'S MORE, ECONOMIC EXPERTS SAY THE US SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR A CHANGED ECONOMY. THINGS WON'T GO BACK TO AS THEY WERE BEFORE, ESPECIALLY IN THE LEISURE AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRIES. STEVEN BLITZ- CHIEF US ECONOMIST TS LOMBARD"THESE WILL BE REPURPOSED AND REOPENED AND THEY ARE GOING TO BE DIFFERENT GOING FORWARD, THAN THE WAY THEY WERE BEFORE." IT'S CLEAR- BOTH CAMPAIGNS WILL NEED TO PRODUCE INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES, NOT ONLY TO WIN THE ELECTION- BUT TO HELP THE ECONOMY RECOVER.
